Rochon is a native of Torrance, Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, the daughter of Zelma, a nurse practitioner, and Samuel Staples, a business owner and graphic artist. Cerritos Senior High School, located in Cerritos California was the place where she graduated in 1982. She received her bachelor's degree of broadcast journalism with minors from sociology and theater from California State University Dominguez hills (CSUDH). Ullerup's initial role was of Julia Brynn on the remake television series of Battlestar Galactica in 2006, which aired on Sci Fi Channel. She performed the role of Ashley Magnus in the first and second seasons of the tv show Sanctuary until her role was cut from the script. She was the subject of controversy among the people who wanted her be back in the future on shows. However, Sanctuary was eventually ended in 2012. In 2016, Ullerup was cast as Bree O'Brien in Chesapeake Shores. Ullerup was Maggie Thomas, the estranged spouse of Michael Thomas, in the disaster movie Asteroid: Final Impact (2015). Ullerup played Dale Travers, a recurring role on Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered films, from 2016 to today.
